Low-e window film (silver reflective), internal install

This low-e window film is designed for interior installation to improve comfort year-round. It helps retain warmth in winter and reduces solar heat, glare, and UV exposure in the brighter months. It works well for both homes and commercial spaces.

Low-e window film performance (tested figures)

  • Heat loss reduction (winter): 34%
  • Solar heat reduction: 82% total solar energy rejected
  • Glare reduction: 83%
  • UV rejection: 99%
  • Visible light transmission: 15%

Why choose low-e window film for insulation?

Low-e window film helps reduce heat loss through glass in colder weather by reflecting internal heat back into the room. This can make spaces more comfortable and reduce heating needs, especially with single-glazed windows.

Solar heat, glare, and UV reduction

By blocking a large amount of solar energy, this film helps prevent overheating on sunny days. The reflective surface reduces harsh brightness and increases comfort when using screens, while filtering UV rays helps slow down fading of interiors.

Privacy note (daytime)

This low-e window tint can offer daytime privacy when it’s brighter outside than inside. At night, with indoor lights on, privacy decreases; use blinds or curtains if you need privacy after dark.

Low-E window film is ideal for improving energy efficiency in a variety of settings. It’s especially effective on:

  • Single-glazed windows in homes, offices, and conservatories
  • Rooflights and skylights where insulation is typically poor
  • Older buildings where upgrading to double glazing isn't feasible
  • Conservatory roofs to help maintain a stable temperature year-round

If Low-E window film isn’t the right fit, consider:

  • High reflective silver for similar heat, glare & UV rejection (without reducing winter heat loss) and daytime privacy at a lower cost.
  • Coolclear solar deluxe if your primary goal is protecting furnishings and
    interiors from sun damage
  • Silver frost for similar heat, glare and UV rejection without reducing winter heat loss. Has an external mirrored appearance day and night but you can't see out either.
  • Coolkote for conservatory polycarbonate roofs where glare and heat are extreme

Check out our installation guides for help installing window film in different situations.  A good starting point is.

  • Cut the film slightly larger than what you need.
  • Clean the glass thoroughly.
  • Spray a slip solution made of water and baby shampoo on the glass.
  • Remove the backing liner and spray the same solution on the exposed adhesive.
  • Put the film on the glass and float it into place.
  • Cut the film tight to the frame.
  • Use a dedicated hard squeegee to remove the water from underneath the film.
