About Coolkote window film – internal install

Coolkote window film is a self-adhesive solar control film made specifically for polycarbonate conservatory roofs & other synthetic glazing. However, it can also be used on glass where you want strong heat reduction with a darker grey finish.

Coolkote window film performance (solar control)

  • Solar heat reduction: 84%
  • UV rejection: 70%
  • Visible light transmission: 10% (darker finish)
  • Finish/colour: grey
  • Suitable for: polycarbonate conservatory roofs, synthetic materials & glass
  • Installation: internal (interior)
  • Type: self-adhesive film

Cooler conservatories & less glare

Most importantly, Coolkote helps make conservatories more usable during warmer, brighter conditions by reducing the sun’s heat at the roof. As a result, you’ll typically notice fewer hot spots, less harsh brightness & improved comfort across seating areas, floors & furniture.

Made for polycarbonate, also suitable for glass

To be clear, Coolkote was developed for polycarbonate & synthetic glazing, which is exactly why it’s so popular for conservatory roofs. That said, it can also be applied to glass when you want a high-performance solar control film with a deeper tint.

Helps reduce sun-related fading

In addition, Coolkote is designed to limit the detrimental effects of solar exposure, helping reduce sun-related fading over time. This means it can help protect furnishings, flooring & finishes in bright spaces.

Coolkote window film is ideal for:

  • Conservatories and garden rooms that overheat in the sun
  • Offices and workspaces struggling with excess heat and glare
  • Polycarbonate roofs where traditional films aren’t suitable
  • Homes needing better temperature control without darkening the room

Check out our installation guides for help installing window film in different situations.  A good starting point is.

  • Cut the film slightly larger than what you need.
  • Clean the glass thoroughly.
  • Spray a slip solution made of water and baby shampoo on the glass.
  • Remove the backing liner and spray the same solution on the exposed adhesive.
  • Put the film on the glass and float it into place.
  • Cut the film tight to the frame.
  • Use a dedicated hard squeegee to remove the water from underneath the film.
